The Time That Travel Channels ‘Food Wars’ Came to Buffalo

In late December 2009, Travel Channel’s show ‘Food Wars‘, with host Camille Ford, traveled to Buffalo, NY to film their series premiere episode which would later air on March 9th, 2010. The episode would pit rival’s Duff’s and Anchor Bar against each other in a chicken wing cook-off to decide who serves the cities best wings.

So, who won in the battle of Duff’s vs Anchor Bar? Watch the full episode below.

The show described the rich history of both restaurants, the differences between how each establishment prepares their wings, and talked with loyal fans of each.

At the end of the show, five tasters sampled wings from each restaurant in a blind taste test, and the vote came down to a 3-2 decision in favor of Duff’s.

The series ended after only one season but not before airing 22 weekly episodes through November, 2010 with the similar X vs Y battle format.

“I am now an official Buffalo wing addict,” Ford says. “I can’t get enough of them. I’m addicted; completely addicted. And it’s all because of going to Anchor Bar and Duff’s. … Literally. I can’t tell you how much I love them. I had no idea they could be that good.”
